At Wellesley Middle School, we have created a way of evaluating resources called CART.
CART stands for Current, Accessible, Relevant, Trustworthy.

Students are taught to "CART" their resources before they decide to use them. Currently, CARTing is done on paper (one page per resource), but it can be adapted to be done electronically using NoodleTools or something like it. The goal is that students will learn to CART resources on their own, in their heads, without having to do it out on paper.

CART is introduced in sixth grade and then revisited in eighth grade where they learn about CART+, which has them push their evaluation to think about what they actually want in a resource (interactive, good images, well-organized, etc.)

The following are some of the CART handouts and we use (it has had many versions).
